Chinese characters

We knew Yoshi recognizes some of those Japanese Hiragana characters. I have always wanted to teach him some Chinese, but never know where to begin, especially Cantonese. My friend recommended a collection of books which teaches the basic 500 chinese characters for kids. About a month ago, grandpa has been teaching Yoshi this everynight before bed time. To our suprise, Yoshi is like a little sponge, remembering every characters very well, which is very fun to watch. Hope I can keep up grandpa's patience after they leave...... ( thx Wendy & Iris for recommending this book ^_^)

Kiharu is 2 months old already. She is doing well, especially in the morning and after mid night. In between, she would take naps or wanted to be held (most of the time). Sometimes, her nap is shorter than my phone call, I should say more of resting her eye lids perhaps.... Kiharu is now having more facial expression. She is more alert with her surroundings, she will give u smile and 'ee' 'aa' sound too. Her neck and legs are pretty strong as well.

She is now 10 LB in weight. Compare to her, Yoshi is really heavy, I found myself having a hard time holding him for a period of time now, don't know how Nori can handle having Yoshi sitting on his shoulders...

Hinamatsuri (Japanese doll festival)

This is the first time we celebrate Himamatsuri (girl's festival) with Kiharu (March 3). Thank you grandparents for the very beautiful card. Yoshi taught himself how to turn on the music inside.... And thanks Judith for the decoration and candies, they are so cute. You have made Kiharu's first festival so much more special. (otherwise, I probably won't even remember such a special tradition.....arigato!!)

An igloo for $9.99

Seems like no matter where u live on earth, as long as there is an IKEA nearby, most likely, your kids would own one of these $9.99 igloo in your house. Or I should say, your kids would get one of these from grandparents......

Here is another Chinese nursery rhyme that grandma taught Yoshi. I'm really amazed how much and how fast Yoshi memorized it.

Bedtime

As grandparents will be leaving in about 2 weeks, slowly I'm trying to "experience" things on my own without relying on their help too much, hoping it will be a easy transition. One of the biggest challenge will probably be dealing with bed time on my own as Nori usually comes home late. In the past, Yoshi was able to sleep after bedtime story. But recently, he's been wanting us by his side till he falls asleep. So these last few nights, I tried to put Yoshi to bed while feeding Kiharu at the same time.

Last night, I ended up falling asleep on Yoshi's bed while holding Kiharu on my chest. Tonight, it became a 1.5 hr long mission. What's worse, when I tried to leave his room twice to take care of Kiharu, I could tell Yoshi really wanted me to be with him....he was grabbing onto my pants... he needed my attention. So finally, after calming down the sleepy baby, I went back to Yoshi's bedside till he fell asleep. It's challenging to satisfy both of their needs the same time, but hopefully I will figure out my way eventually......good night my 2 little ones... xoxo
