Ice cream social time

Lately, we have a new "weekday" routine right after school- "Ice cream social time". Right after Yoshi's school began, I realized he's tired when he came home, and he wanted to play with his toys. He wasn't talking much about school life until right before bedtime, which isn't the perfect timing.

Then one day, while having ice cream treat after school, three of us sat down, and we started sharing about our day (even including Kiharu's own preschool stories, she LOVES it). Since then, it's always one of my favorite time of the day. No toys or books or other things on table, but just three of us with our ice cream cones... Guess the sweetness brought out everyone's good mood.

Last Saturday, we had to attend the class observation day at Japanese school (Hoshuko). Here are the few photos in the morning. Kids were learning how to write the characters.

Now that I have more time at home with Kiharu, sometimes it's good to be able to spend quiet time with Kiharu (in exchange of a quiet time with Yoshi's homework and reading when he's back). Today, she was helping me cut apples to make apple pies....it was a fun kitchen time together, except I am missing portion of my apples.....^_^

Kiharu's first day at preschool

So after waiting for 3 years, Kiharu finally gets her own school day. She was so excited this morning, keep smiling all the way to school, cannot even keep her lips close.  She is going to the same preschool where Yoshi attended, same class & teacher. I know for sure she will have lots of fun.

No tears and no cry for both Kiharu & Nori. ^_^
She loves wearing her own backpack, having her own folder and snack box....

This is Quinn, her classmate. His brother used to be in same class as Yoshi. How time flies by...

So after 6 years, finally I am having a little bit of "me" time. This morning, I choose to come to the coffee shop, updating blog, so to give myself a little special me time too. But eventually it will turn into laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning time... it's alright. Afterall, it's still "me" time. Can't wait for them to come home and tell me all about their stories at school.

Wood workers & more...

During the summer, we took the kids twice to a nearby  home improvement store (they sell all kids of home improvement/ building materials) for kids summer activities. The best part- FREE. (but of course all dads fell into the marketing trap- hang around the store for tools shopping after kids activity) ^_^
Every kids were given an apron, kids hammer and the building materials- wood pieces & nails. Nori kept laughing at me, because I truly cannot follow simple directions... when it comes to building things. Luckily I have a husband who likes to "build" when I shopped at IKEA. ^_^

(hammering nails- but watch our YOUR own fingernails...)

The planes are wood materials with stickers decoration.
Now that Yoshi has started full day school, our mornings are much more useful. I am able to have more housework accomplished, even have dinner ready. Best part, I got to spend more quality time just with Kiharu- doing craft/art projects, reading stories, playing a few games....
This past weekend, Yoshi had lost 2 teeth (in different days). Toothfairy was very busy bringing toy cars during his sleep. And for two days straight, Yoshi woke (us) up before sunrise. It's almost like another Christmas in the summer.  I am sure he would love to have all his teeth fell out, so he can have more toothfairy visit.  Now he has a BIG hole in the middle...^_^
 Kiharu- LOVES corn!!!!
