Yoshi is getting heavier and heavier...

Today, Yoshi has his 1 month check up today. Here is his latest:

Weight: 10lb 6oz (4706gm) (he has gained 2lb in 2 wks...)
Height: 23" (58cm)
Head circumference: 15.5" (39cm) (check out the watermellon as comparision)

He is doing well. He got his first vaccination shot outside hospital today. Luckily, after crying for 5 sec, he forgot what was all about. ^_^ Later on, he went for his 2nd grocery trip, which he fell asleep as usual.

Photos from Uncle Henry

Uncle Henry took these 2 photos while we were shopping for Yoshi's new nap time bed. Thought it's very funny to share. Almost look like me and Nori were too busy shopping that we forgot our son behind.... and seems like Yoshi were trying to listen to our conversation....

Yoshi's 4 weeks old birthday

Yoshi's one month birthday is tomorrow, but we celebrated his 4 wks old during the weekend. Events included:

1) After sleeping on the floor mat for a month downstairs during the day, we finally got him a new nap time bed, so he can be more comfortable.

2) Yoshi's first visit to McDonald- he got his first breath of french fries and McNuggets smell... yummy....

3) For dinner- we got sushi and cheesecake. (Yoshi was sleeping next to us while eating, at least he was the main character in this whole event....^_^)

4) He also received new clothes & red pockets from grandpa, grandma.....

Lucky Yoshi!!
(Yoshi has also found his new "starring buddy" in his nap time bed- the orange color monkey)

Baby crying signal??

Recently I saw an article about identifying baby crying signal. I tried to relate to Yoshi's cry, but I got to say I really cannot tell any difference between the 3 types listed. And there are also other factors weren't being listed, such as "I want to fart"; "I'm about to poop"; "I just want grandpa to hold me to sleep"; "I just want to cry for no reasons"..............

Swing swing swing.......

Thanks Heiman & Atsushi for the baby swinger. Last night while I was preparing dinner, Yoshi started crying to be hold. So I tried to put him on the swing seat, and right away, he enjoyed it a lot. He was starring at the green elephant, probably wondering wasn't elephant grey in color?!

Tamagotchi

After 3 weeks of constant feeding, burping, changing diapers, I started to feel like having a life size "tamagotchi" with me. Yoshi basically has his own routine feeding schedule, almost like every 2-3 hrs. Then we burp him, follow by changing diapers, then he will fall back to sleep. He is at the age when trying to develop eye contact, not much interaction yet, and he smiles on his own. So don't you think he's like a "tamagotchi"?? ^_^

Need to be hold to sleep

Lately, Yoshi has found his comfort of laying on someone's chest. Without that, he tends to be having a harder time to fall asleep on his own.....(Oops, that's no good) I guess because everytime when he cries, all of us would run to him, so he might as well ask for his comfort zone while he still gets the main attention in the house.....

Yoshi is gaining weight, YEAH!!!

Today Yoshi has his 3rd weight check since birth. He's doing so well that the nurse was even amazed with his progress.

When he was born: 7lb 6.8oz (3368gm)
June 1st: 7lb (3175gm)- with the baby weight loss
June 6th: 7lb 10oz (3459gm)
Today: 8lb 6oz (3799gm)
He has gained 12oz within a week which is much more than normal average of 5-8oz gain.

So he is doing well, which I'm so relief, not knowing sometimes how much to feed him or if he has enough to eat. Can't wait for him to be able to talk a bit, so I can stop the "guessing game" when he starts crying....

Attached photo is his first grocery trip after weight check this afternoon. Of course as usual, he slept thru the entire trip, not even knowing he had a chance to request chips, ice-cream, chocolate...from the grocery....(just kidding....)

Celebration and farewell

This past Sat, we had a little celebration at our place- Nori's 36th & Yoshi's 2nd week birthday. We had a family BBQ outing at the backyard, and for the first time Yoshi got to go out there for little breath of fresh air and see what both grandpa's have planted for us. Then we had a homemade birthday cake as dessert. Check out Yoshi's outfit on the photo, it's made by my friend Spence, using Nori's truck image, what a suprise from Yoshi to daddy....^_^

Then next morning, Yoshi took his first trip to the airport and said goodbye to his grandparent who were leaving back to Japan. (Even though Yoshi slept thru the entire trip, not knowing he was even out of the house.......but I'm sure he is very looking forward to seeing them again soon)

SLEEP Zzzzzzzzz............

"Sleep" is what all of 3 of us are thinking about constantly........

Yoshi- he sleeps pretty much in between eating and doing his "business". He could sleep anywhere at anytime. No matter how noisy it is, like TV noise; grandmas cooking noise; Nori's snoring noise...........he still sleeps. Even sometimes when he was eating, he could fall asleep.

Nori & me- hm........typical new parents struggle I guess. What happen to the old days when we can both sleep 10 hrs non-stop during the weekend?! I found myself now in the middle of the night, I don't need alarm clock, I just woke up as soon as Yoshi shout for his first cry for food.....

Wonder, how soon will all 3 of us be able to sleep with the same schedule?!?!

Yoshi's first week

Yoshi has been here with us for 9 days already. Still hard to believe he had been living inside my tummy for the past 10 months. Days went by so fast. Me and Nori are still "slowly" adjusting to this new parenthood lifestyle. I'm not sure where to begin in describing what our daily schedule is (if there is any). Seems like each day is fill with feeding, watching baby sleep, changing diapers, burping, trying to figure out how much Yoshi wants to eat, why is he suddenly smiling and suddenly crying, he has so much facial expressions ...... Though I have heard so much about lack of sleep, but not till we experience ourselves, that we realize, it's the hardest adjustment (especially we are so used to sleeping for at least 10 hrs NONSTOP in the weekend.....) I no longer sleep with battery functioned alarm clock, but instead I have "Yoshi manual clock".

Yoshi has brought so much joy to our family. He's constantly being watched, starred, held, hugged...especially by grandparents. We are really blessed to have him here.

Well, I never thought it will take me 3 days to get this blog done. I was so used to having blog updated, but I found myself now living by Yoshi's schedule, in between his nap time. Not even to mention returning all the phone calls or e-mail.....so if u haven't heard from me for a while or seeing me in the MSN, probably I'm in the middle of changing his poopy diapers or feeding him......anyway, THANK YOU for all your well wishes, hope this blog could be a temporary way of communications with all of u.

(P.S. A lot of these photos here are shot by Uncle Henry, he is a really great photographer!!!! Lucky Yoshi)
