Report card

Today Yoshi had his 9 months check up.

Weight: 16LB13oz (7626gm)- 5%

Height: 28.5" (72cm)- 75%

Head Cir: 18.5" (47cm)- 90%

Yes, the weight percentile is really low, however, the doctor wasn't really too worry. He suspected that perhaps due to the slow weight gain back in 6 months old. But now, he felt that Yoshi is back on track, though is slow, but it's much better than before. So no need to worry. I think we might just slightly add his meal portion, since Yoshi seems to have great appetite. Actually, I have just been thinking Yoshi likes eating a lot (I guess who doesn't), but he eats everything that I feed him. Hope he will have more weight gain next check up.

Today he did had 2 vaccination shots, but he did fine, not even a tear. Later, the nurse also drawn blood from his toe (for iron level check up), Yoshi didn't even feel a thing....lucky us.

Interest in the bright yellow bandage
So what's for afternoon snack after check up- vegetable soup + apple/blueberry sauce + cracker

Yoshi is able to reach the snack tray now.....watch out.

Bad hair morning

Happy Friday
(is this really Yoshi? or does it look like some kind of Hollywood celebrity mugshot??)

Searching for something?

Perhaps because we have been staying home too long, running out of things to do, got bored with all his toys on the floor, Yoshi was aiming for something else this time. How did he get so far away from his territory? rolling rolling rolling.....he actually rolled few rounds, then stopped and make sure he was in the right direction, then continued to roll till he arrived at the destination- laundry basket..... maybe he was searching for clean socks??

Waiting

Waiting for the snow to be melted.....
Waiting for the Spring to come.....
Waiting to go out and play.......
Waiting for food, more snacks......
Waiting to get out from this highchair.....
Waiting for Otoosan to come home soon......

New dance move

Perhaps Yoshi really wants to crawl soon, so he practices a lot on the floor, and even while sitting on his high chair....does he look like a bobblehead?

"Special" moment captured in tape

Lately he likes to flip his lap top cover (maybe his computer stock market report wasn't good). But this time is different- in fact, he has something else in mind.........

Hints:

#1) Turn UP the volume

#2) Pay attention when he flipped his lap top cover, then turn around....see what u heard!!

(It must be my lucky day that I was able to capure this "special" moment................)

Crawling backward

So Yoshi has officially started his slow crawling....BUT backwards. It's still very little steps, but he seems to be proud of himself (perhaps...thru the translation of his new talking sound) It's funny to see his body & butt shaking front and back, looks like some new disco moves.....

Kayla & Jacob

We went to visit my friend Stacy yesterday. She just has her newborn baby girl- Kayla (2 wks old), beautiful. Jacob is 1yr and 5 mths old, he is such a loving boy. He was showing his favorite book and trying to sit closer and closer to Yoshi. He even tried to lean his head onto Yoshi's shoulder....so cute. He will sure be a great brother to Kayla.

Busy weekend

Wonder where have we been? No blog update for a while?? Actually we had a busy weekend- painting our living room. I like painting, but I hate the preparation and clean up job... luckily Yoshi was able to self- entertained himself for a while.....

What's going on? What are they starring at? Yoshi was so nosy that he had to look thru the wooden chair?
Oh yeah, of course- TV!!
Painting job began! Hard working daddy....Mr. Supervisor- little Yoshi. Seems like he was having fun with Anpanman too.

Bell ringing

(Yoshi was supposed to be taking his nap.....)
"What's that sound? sound like an early santa clause bell ringing..?"

Ah...no, actually Yoshi was ringing the bell, celebrating grandpa's successful surgery at the hospital in HK. Don't worry, grandpa is fine, he had a scheduled surgery on Fri morning for his gallbladder. The surgery was finished in an hour and test result proved that everything is normal. He will be going home tomorrow. Now both grandpa & grandson are eating the same kind of congee food, soft and yummy. Get some rest grandpa. Ah....now I also realized, maybe Yoshi was saying "Papapapa (=grandpa?!)....instead of Babababa...." ^_^

Border crossing violation

Yoshi has his designated play area (within the blue fabric area on carpet). We didn't want him on the wooden floor as his head tends to lay down so fast and it will hurt a lot. But the more u try to stop him, the more curious he is across the border.... Sometimes when I'm in the kitchen, Yoshi disappears quickly within my sight "where's Yoshi?!".....he rolls and rolls to the other side of the room....very soon, he can crawl too...oh no!!

Potty training already?!?!

As I'm running out of option in avoiding Yoshi from pooping during bathtime, I can only try grandma's suggestion of EARLY potty training. I know this is WAY too early, as the potty seat packaging box clearly marked "for 18months +", but let's just try, as I GOT TO DO SOMETHING!! Well....we did put little Yoshi's butt onto the seat, but he's halfway sink to the bottom....haha....(no photo yet). Nothing came out. But we will keep trying to practice before each bathtime....this is more for him to realize he should poop in either diaper or that seat, but not bathtub...let's see if he will give me another bomb tomorrow....

In the meantime, let's enjoy the box first...... (make sure to click the left/right arrow at the bottom part of the magic show)

Phone fight

To grandparents- seems like everytime when I have Yoshi talked to you on the phone, all you heard was button pressing sound or silence or strange movement sound......so to give you a visual idea, here is the video taping of one of the phone call. On the other side of the phone, was grandma probably saying "hello Yoshi, hello Yoshi, it's grandma.... what are u doing now? did you sleep well last night?........."

Welcome back Otoosan

Nori finally came back on Friday night after a long wk trip away. Yoshi was so happy to see him. Guess what Ottoosan brought back? a bunch of baby snacks too.....lucky Yoshi!!!!

Experiments

Since we are stuck at home, creativity is important......I have done few experiments with little Yoshi.....

Experiment #1- "What happen if I put his yummy snack further away?"RESULT: He made it after putting lots of effort. (he even cheered for himself)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Experiment #2- "What happen if I leave few drops of water on his food tray?"RESULT: Playful Yoshi. Perhaps thought he could hold on to it.......
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Experiment #3- "What happen if I play Russian Roulette game with his snack, will he still pick the right choice?"

RESULT: Confused!!

Our future hero- Shimajiro-kun

Yoshi got this puppet toy from grandma in Japan during xmas. His name is "Shimajiro". Yoshi's cousins- Nana & Yuuki-chan likes it a lot. All along I thought it is just some kind of popular Japanese cartoon character, never really ask any further. Till tonight just happened to saw a clip from Youtube, then realized Shimajiro could be my lifesaver someday when Yoshi starts his potty train (Arigato oobachan & Oojichan)...The funniest part (besides the cartoon & song) is the actual device that they show at the end of the clip....but my friends, don't expect to see any video clip upload from me and Nori singing this song in the bathroom in any future, even if we do so, it's private family memory only.....^_^

Photography studio

We need a new passport photo for Yoshi again, lucky we have Uncle Henry, our living room had suddenly turned into a photography studio. Last time http://kambayashifamily.blogspot.com/2007/07/yoshis-first-official-photo-was-he.html when Yoshi took his, he was laying down on the bed. Now he is able to sit up, and maybe next time he can stand....(we will be in trouble, I'm sure he will be running around instead)

"Yoshi, look at the camera"

Yeah, I think we got it.

Oh, don't forget to wipe the bubbles from your mouth

Peek a Boo

Yoshi got this book from Nori's sister during x'mas (Thank you Junko-san). It's a Peek a boo animal book. Yoshi loves it, he seems to understand the game and always waiting for the suprise from the pop up animals (no matter how many times he has seen this book). His excitment has caused some injury to the zoo victims.....

Screaming welcome

Picture this:
As soon as I heard the outside garage door opened (meaning Nori just arrived home), I held Yoshi by the hallway that led to the entrance. I was holding Yoshi with one hand and holding camera with the other (pretty impressive strength, huh?!). I started to say to Yoshi "Ottoosan...Ottoosan is home..." By now, Yoshi probably recognized the word Ottoosan = Nori (even though he couldn't repeat the words yet). Then with the garage door noise, he heard something was coming. So that's how his screaming excitment started. In the middle of the clip, u can hear the house door opened, that's when Nori came in. Check out Yoshi's reaction....

U know, after staying home for 5 days without seeing anyone else, he's (we're) definitely excited to see Nori comes home everynight ......

Afternoon snack time

Now that Yoshi has 8 teeth, we have changed his baby snack. It's still a similar kind, but harder in texture, takes a little longer to melt in his mouth and teach him how to chew harder. So for the first day, I have broken it into smaller bite size and left those on his food tray, see what happened next..........I think he might thought mama has magic power, can sometimes bring out extra pieces from his hand or nowhere......(actually it's a leftover piece that got fell off from his mouth...quite funny to see his reaction)

Happy Chinese New Year

Wishing you all the happiness and healthy in the new year. Take care.

Mama is sick too....

I think I got it from little Yoshi.......

Cheap air ticket

We received a package from grandpa & grandma in Hong Kong yesterday, full of new year celebration stuff. Yoshi thought of a cheaper way to go back to HK & Japan- "cozy airline seat". He's also fascinated with the new shoes from gp/gm.

One other thing from the package is a jacket FOR YOSHI. But I think mama & Yoshi could share same outfit to wear, applicable for winter & summer time.

Stop playing and drink your water

Road to recovery

Yoshi's cold is getting better. Still has stuffy nose when he wakes up from nap, but much less running nose, so it's good. (but somehow, my throat is starting to feel slight uncomfortable....... hm....hope not what I'm thinking)

One of the best baby thing that we bought in Japan is this nasal aspirator. Compare to the old fashion bulb syringe, which is useless, this is our life saver. Basically u suck from the tube, so the yiky thing will go directly into the container. Don't worry, u will NEVER ever have to taste that at all. Yoshi hates us doing that, but it works well & clean easily.
