Let me show you my move

This is what mommy should do.....everyone tries also!! 1...2......3.....

A message from Yoshi

Hi everyone, I'm finally here to this outside world. No longer living in the dark or listening the fuzzy noises thru mommy's tummy. I have been trying to hold on till grandpa & grandma to arrive from Japan on Fri night, so you see, I have been timing perfectly for my arrival. I didn't start my big motion till the entire family finished the sushi dinner, celebrating my upcoming arrival late that night. Then after mom took her 3 hrs sleep, I woke her up. I can tell she had been back and forth to the bathroom, checking the clock, and reading the booklet of "how do u know when labor happens" (hee hee, isn't it too late to read that?!) Then around 3a.m, she decided to wake daddy up. After shower, we are on our way to the hospital first, just 3 of us. Of course I could hear both grandparents were very worry and poor grandpa & ma from Japan, they were still having their jet lag/ time difference.....

Everyone started to arrive the hospital around 8:30a.m., including Uncle Henry & Christa, which I know they are not morning person, but they were anxiously waiting for me too. I think I kicked mommy too frequently (Oops) and causing too much pain, so she finally decided to have the epidural shot, but I can't help to control my excitement motion, so her pain got worse in the following hrs. Anyway, long story short, I finally got my first breath of fresh air at 4:35p.m. (Tata!!!!!) My arrival was welcomed with tears, constant photo & video shots (like a movie star ^_^) Can u believe how much I weight? 7lb 6.8oz, wow, must be mommy's McDonald french fries & Grater's ice-cream......

The first night at the hospital, I was just keep starring at the new environment, checking out the new voices, I didn't sleep much, just keeping myself quiet. But then on the 2nd night, I have decided to show off my vocal just like the other babies down the hall, I think mom and dad started to realize I'm no longer silent anymore....... and yes, daddy did receive my first gift to him- poopy diaper. ^_^

I have been back home for 2 nights already. I'm doing very well. But I think the crib is too hard, I prefer sleeping in front of TV downstairs. I feel very lonely at night, and I cried just for attention (& food of course) I know mom and dad are having serious undereye circles...but they love me so much that they just can't keep kissing, hugging, making fun of me....

Well, that's all for right now, I'm sure u will be hearing a lot about me all the time. Come back and check out my latest photos on this blog!! ^_^

Oh.......though I sleep a lot lately, but I have been hearing mom and dad talking about how many e-mails, phone calls, blog comments they received from all of u, wishing us the best, "THANK YOU". Hope to meet you all very soon. I promise, I will save those poopy diapers for family members only....(watch out Uncle Henry) Take care.

Wonder how contraction might feel?

I have been awake since 5a.m. this morning. Visiting bathroom has become a routine habbit lately (again), perhaps it's the preparation for the upcoming sleepless night when Yoshi comes home. I have been feeling very fine, just can't help to start wondering how contraction feel. I think besides finding out the baby gender, this got to be the next mystery during this process. The more I try to read about it, the more suspicious I got about little strange feeling I have. But at the end, it seems the conclusion is just Yoshi moving inside me (so I stopped further research). I'm not nervous about Yoshi's birth, but more excited instead and also trying to absorb the happiness from people around. Can't wait. (Hospital bag is "temporiary" ready....... somehow I have left the suitcase open, thinking there will be more things to be added in the last minute once I start my contraction.....if I ever know when that moment will be ^_^)

What? Yoshi's name being changed??

Yes, after thinking thru a bit longer, we have decided to slightly change Yoshi's name. We will still call him "Yoshi", but the 2nd part of his name will be "taka". So his full name is now YOSHITAKA KAMBAYASHI 神林良幸.

"Taka" means happy, positive, good luck (in life, family....)

If on schedule, Yoshi should be meeting us very soon. His due date is on next Monday (May 28th). I'm feeling him wanting to come out everyday, but he is also holding on inside. Maybe because he is waiting for grandpa/grandma to arrive from Japan later this Friday or maybe he knows my doctor is on vacation..... ^_^ Anyway, Yoshi can't wait to meet you all.

Baby stuffs....

Now to the final countdown of Yoshi's arrival, we had the last min stuff taken care of. This past weekend, uncle Henry & grandpa helped Nori to assemble the baby car seats and also the baby swinger (Thanks Heiman & Atsushi, I'm sure "our" Yoshi will have lots of fun). Then next day, me and Nori took both of our cars to the nearest fire station for proper car seats installation. It will take us a while to get used to seeing new baby stuffs around our house. And offically, Nori's "off-roading" truck has become "daddy's truck". ^_^ hee hee.......

Our new backyard security guard

Before grandson Yoshi's arrival, my dad has currently found a new temporary job at our house- being the security guard at our backyard. I'm not sure if he is trying to guard the water hose from our neighbours or making sure the water bill is being fully justified, but as long as he is having fun, that's all matter.

Excited Uncle Henry & Christa

(future) uncle Henry and Christa came and joined for family dinner the other night, Nori even came home early. After enjoying the home cook meal, baby Yoshi got a big suprise gift package from them. It's full of very cute clothes, toys and some useful stuff, obviously they have done lots of research ^_^. I can tell everyone is very excited about Yoshi's arrival, can't wait..... 1.5 more wks to go.

Fun weekend

This past weekend was packed with different activities. My friend Carman was visiting us in between her business trip to Canada. Since it's Mother's Day weekend also, we had scheduled manicure for all of us ladies, that was pretty relaxing. Of course, we did spoiled ourselves with shopping, yummy food and even 2 scoops of ice-cream each (I think that went a bit over what we can handle even under hot summer weather.....) It's really fun to be able to spend some girly time before baby arrives.

Can't believe there are 2 more weeks left ("if" according to schedule). However, I have already started preparing the "hospital bag" just in case. Seems like there are still more needed to be done, but oh well...... as long as we have the crib, diapers and baby car seat, we are ready to go..... I think Nori has been trying to keep track with my belly button as it has been popping like a pop-corn. ^_^

For those who are wondering how my parents are doing- well.....I think they are adapting to here very well so far. Walking around the neighbourhood everyday, come back reporting who has garage sale and what other houses are being built; My dad has spent half of the day switching the position of the hose, trying to make sure the whole back yard is being watered. He really had lots of fun being Nori's yardwork assistant. My mom enjoyed preparing different kind of Chinese food/ drinks for me, I have never seen someone buying that much ginger at one time....(some kind of ginger flavor food......hm..........haven't got to try yet) We even took them to "experience" the weekend flea market yesterday at Traders' World. I think it's quiet interesting for them, esp when we spot a lady wearing shorts and swim suit on top........but mom did end up spending $4 in there, so it's worth the $2 entrance fee at least.

Anyway, Yoshi and us are doing well, his butt has been moving a lot especially during dinner time. Sometimes I do wonder if he was farting or not. ^_^

Grandparents' first visit to mega baby store

My parents have finally arrived here at the States. Yesterday, we went out shopping and stop by Babies R Us, they were amazed of how much different baby stuff there is, including the bouncing baby seat, which almost give me a headache just by looking at it vibrating. It's the Chinese tradition that grandma has to buy the baby carrier, so she did. It's funny now that when we go baby shopping, I started to call them grandpa/ grandma.....

Saying goodbye after 8 yrs...

Last Friday was my last day at work in Saturday Knight Ltd. 8 years had gone by so quick, I really enjoyed being there with all the nice people that I work with. I had learnt and experienced a lot during the journey. All the ups and downs have made me even stronger, and become who I'm now. The valuable opportunities that I was given had no words to describe. Today (Monday) is my official day to be at the new job- "Housewife"....^_^ This morning, I still woke up at 6:30a.m. without the alarm clock, after preparing Nori's breakfast, I did went back to sleep. Now sitting in front of the computer, I am so tempted to log in and check work e-mail, but the account is probably no longer exist....I think this will take a while to get used to. However, I'm really lucky to have the choice of being with the baby once he is born, and I'm really looking forward to it.

To all my friends back at work, thanks for everything, you all mean a great deal in my life and I'm sure we will meet very soon again. But this time, instead of carrying a small handbag, it will be with a big stroller & diaper bag....get ready to change the dirty diapers...^_^ No worry about changing table, just put the vinyl shower curtain on the conference room table, he will be fine.

Take care!!

Hello, his name is.............................

Baby Hish is finally getting his name: YOSHIAKI KAMBAYASHI 神林良明 ヨシアキ

This wasn't easy, but after talking thru with Nori, we think the meaning of the words is the best that represent our wishes to the baby:
Yoshiaki = 良明
良= well being (in characteristic), good quality, nice
明= bright, happy, positive

You might wonder why not some of the other options?! here are few of our thought process:
- 宏明 Hiroaki Kambayashi: the sound of "Hiro" is similar to "Hero", might not be good nick name when he goes to school here...
- 宏幸 Hiroyuki Kambayashi: same
- 克幸 Katsuyuki Kambayashi: a little bit difficult to pronounce, but it does has good meaning
- 孝拓 Takahiro Kambayashi: this was the 2nd choice we were battling about. But at the end, we felt a much stronger meaning with "明" than "拓". As far as "孝", it has a good meaning ("respect" eldery, ancestor.....), but we prefer to look forward in the kid's future, than looking back in the past. And Nori has the same character in his name already too. ("Nori" = Noritaka 神林法孝)

Afterall, these are all names with good meaning, but we got to pick one at the end, so that's when Yoshiaki becomes our son's name. And "Yoshi" will be the way how most people will call him, just like "Nori". (isn't this also a good transition from "Hish" to "Yoshi"?)

Anyway, thanks for voting the names earlier, it is really fun seeing what you all have written, and you should see how me and Nori laugh about all your comments. Thanks.

(Oh Heiman, since u will be leaving, so I assume there is only 1 Yoshi , not including your 5lb fuzzy cuttie.....^_^)

Thanks everyone.
~ Sabrina & Nori

(P.s.- "Yoshi" is in his 1 month count down, so he can come out and meet all of you....he can't wait)
