Siblings

As we thought, this is a right age group to travel. Not only are they slightly more independent & easier to handle (compare to feeding an infant everywhere), they can also entertain themselves, while providing plenty of fun for the viewers (a.k.a grandparents).  They love singing, playing, copying with each other, of course there are arguments too. But no matter what they do, love every moments watching them. Wish they can remain like this forever....... xoxo

Happy 5th Birthday Yoshi

For the first time, Yoshi celebrated his birthday in Hong Kong. And thanks to this occasion, we got to eat a feast....^_^
Who wouldn't want a Shinkansen birthday cake? So cute...^_^
While we were in US, Yoshi had waited to get the Japanese toys he wanted (which don't sell in US). So finally on his birthday, both grandparents, uncle Henry & auntie Sze got him what he wished for. He was SO SO SO excited.
As expected (but didn't think he will happen that early), Yoshi was too excited about his toys. He woke up at 5a.m and started playing. Perhaps I should have signed up morning newspaper delivery summer job here, since I have been waking up this early every morning.....
Thanks Audrey for your fun bingo, even Kiharu knows how to play...
Thanks Obaa-chan & Ojiichan for the fun suprise, Yoshi loves the birthday card from Japan. We cannot wait to meet later this summer.

Jet lag

Still suffering from jet lag....but it's much better than I thought. I think slowly we will get back into routine. Kiharu & Yoshi took an afternoon nap today at home.
Before trip, Yoshi said he wanted to eat cha siu bao (BBQ pork bun) in Hong Kong. And of course, that's the first meal after we arrived.

Took Yoshi to see his favorite train sets. he was just way too exhauster. But surely the trains brighten him up very soon.
At lunch time, Yoshi saw a concert flyer of a Chinese opera singing./ He pointed at those people in costumes, and said "they lok like sumo-san" ^_^
Please forgive me if I wrote any strange words in between this post, as I''m suffering serious jet lag at this moment, need to sleep. Reminds me ot the Statistic class in college.......Zzzzzzzz

Hello Hong Kong

Otousan, we already miss you....

Auntie Yukie, your bag comes in handy... thx.
Number one necessity for travelling with kids on plane- TV screen on each seats
 Highlight for kids meal- jello
The 16 hours flight from Chicago to HK was really long, at some point, I gave up looking at the watch. The kids did really well. They slept alright, on and off with about 5 hours. The rest of the awake time was filled with food, TV, lego, stickers...
Hello kon kon po po. To our suprise, Kiharu has NO problem attaching to them. (Now, they are playing with them non-stop since this morning)
Last night after arriving at the airport, at some point, I felt like I was the "babysitter" who was in charge of bringing the kids to HK. No one pay any attention to me...^_^
 Hello Uncle Henry..
Oh no. now we have strong competition on the amount of sushi... Yoshi no longer just satisfy with cucumber or egg (the cheapest one), his taste has been upgraded to raw fish quality....^_^
Luckily, the little one has no clue and is fine with egg only....hee hee
Last night, they went to bed around 12:30.....this morning, Yoshi woke me up at 3:30a.m, since then, he's still awake now (9:30) full of energy. The easiest part about jet lag this time, with Kiharu being older, they were able to entertain themselves with singing, talking in the dark, while I was still acttached to the bed.....(but not for long). Wonder how the day will be later on with all sleepiness kicking in soon...... (and the worst part is, my parent's apartment building complex is under major construction, so noise will be an issue for afternoon nap.....maybe we will need to take a nap on the beach instead....^_^)

Yoshi's first sports day

Last Saturday was Yoshi's first participation in a sports day event. It's at his Japanese Language school. It's also my first time attending any Japanese  event like that, it's a lot of fun for me too. I got to see Yoshi & also hanging out with other families. Both me and Nori also did some parents activities together.

As for Kiharu.....it's more like a eating feast for the whole day...snack, lunch....
(Well, it's time to go to airport....see you all soon in HK & JP)

Yoshi's 5th birthday party preview

We had Yoshi's birthday party last Sunday at a nearby fire station. Yes, it's at the fire station. After doing some research, found out it's free (well worth all the tax we paid before). Yoshi was very excited about it. We had such a great time with all the kids. The firemen showed us everything about the firetruck. It was such a wonderful experience for both kids and adults. Fun!! (more photos later)
(Firemen gave each kids a helment, how cute)
We had turned the conference room into a kids party room. ^_^
(Thanks Mayumi-san & George in taking all the photos for us, so many great memories to keep. Thanks)

Brother's love

Tonight at dinner, after long waited without any move, I told Kiharu she cannot eat orange unless she finished her meal......
Kiharu: "I want Yoshi to feed me" (in broken Cantonese & Japanese)
Yoshi: "I will feed you, eat now" ........ "now eat  by yourself...."
Kiharu demanded Yoshi to feed her spoon by spoon... this little sister is sure a spoiled one by everyone...(but me) ^_^
Yoshi is a great brother, he even clapped hands when Kiharu finished her meal. I'm just so blessed to have such a great little helper.

Maths

Recently, I have started doing some math calculation with Yoshi at home. I taught him to use his fingers to count. But what if the answer is more than 10??

...... then I guess you will have to use your feet too.....
