Happy Mid Autumn Festival

Thank you grandma and grandpa for the package from Hong Kong, the kids have so much fun playing with the lanterns (even under the bright sunny light). Though we didn't eat any mooncake or walk around the neighbourhood in dark with the lanterns, but they enjoyed the battery operated lantern with music very much. Thank you. Happy Mid Autumn Festival to everyone.

Color experiment

A quick little activity after dinner, all u need are two empty bottles + food coloring. I used to think I can be creative with the kids, but I seem to have less of those energy lately. I hope that will come back in Winter time, when we are all staying at home more often. I do miss those bonding time, I need to start getting myself into the creative mode...

Lately...

Lately, I have been very lazy in writing the blog. Feels like the day goes by so fast. I'm still adjusting to Yoshi's new school schedule. I have never been a morning person, so now waking up at 6:15 everyday, my body are functioning much slower as the day goes. Perhaps Nori would say if I go to bed early, it would help.... but u know, mom's "me time" only comes after everyone goes to bed.

The kids love to play with mud and truck outside, but it's hard to find time in between preparing lunch/ dinner, or nap time... and I wouldn't let them to be out by themselves. I always remind myself that I should let them "be kids" more, and it's ok to get dirty or loud or be energetic (jumping around)...... I guess I'm a very unflexible person ?! (good to have a husband with opposite character to balance with each other).

Today, we don't have any plan after school, so why not have our picnic lunch in front of the driveway. Then follow by mud and bicycle time?! Now everyone is happy, and I got to update the blog while watching them as well. .... got to do this more often before the cold winter comes right around the corner....

Tofu....舅父

This is all created by Kiharu herself, I didn't teach her to say that....
(The pronounciation of "Uncle" in Cantonese is "Kou Fu", very similiar to "Tofu" I guess....according to Kiharu at least....^_^)

Hello Tooth Fairy

After having the loose tooth for few weeks, FINALLY............... We were so excited that the moment happened when Nori was here with us too. Actually, the tooth was very lose when I noticed, my friend suggested I can pull that out ourselves. So without any pain, the tooth was out in a minute.

And yes, "Tooth Fairy" (the second mystery "person" besides Santa Clause) had came to visit Yoshi last night. She took away the little tooth underneath his pillow, and left a small gift in celebrating this special milestone. So happy for you Yoshi. ^_^

Hong Kong- Sunshine coming your way.

These past two weeks, I have been spending every free moment browsing the internet for any update news about the ongoing protest in Hong Kong. Since I moved to the US 16 yrs ago, I have never been so attached to the HK news like recently. But seeing how this education movement/protest was started by a group of high school students, who share such passion about the future of the next generation, I'm very touched. As a mother of two, there is nothing more impoartant than protecting your children. Though we are far away, but our hearts are close to all those who are there fighting for their believes. How I wish to be there to be part of this important history.... Hang in there everyone, sunshine coming your way...

Summer memories- Part I: Glass museum in Nagano, Japan.

While we were in Japan, we took a mini trip to Nagano. Thanks to Aunt Junko, we made an interesting stop at the glass museum. They had a kid's corner with different hands on activities.
Let's start with the easiest activity for little Kiharu- it's nothing related to glass though. She got to pick those colorful thing (paper, plastic stuff....) into the kaleidoscope. Fun for her little fingers.

Then was the older kids turn - making decorative jar (or candles if prefer to add candle wick)....who said it's free, but worth to do something different, it's cute...
First, they picked the color sand for the base
...then picked 3 of those mini glass beads (of course u can pick more.....more $$)

...the last step is to wait for an hour to let the hot wax cool down....it's one of the most expensive candle we have, but definitly the most beautiful & memorable one. It was a very fun activity.
