Choo Choo

So what's Yoshi doing?
What's he concentrated at?
Yes, it's Thomas. After playing at the train tables in bookstores for so many times, he finally got his first Thomas train at Ethan's birthday party (THANK YOU ETHAN). Finally Yoshi can play with the train in the house, not having the need to say good bye at bookstore. He's fascinated with the wheels. Forget about the train tracks that comes with it, he just wanted to move the wheels on anything he could reach.

seems like all boys have inherited their wheels-loving genes from their daddies! oh maybe next time you go to that race event w/ nori, you can bring yoshi too! he must be fascinated as much as daddy!

re tv, i attended a talk on children's concentration and a speaker says since tv has lots and lots of visual and audio stimulation, if children watch too much tv, they won't be able to concentrate in situations when the stimulation is not as strong - e.g. reading. anyway, i guess the less the better! i mostly turn on the hi-fi for him now in mealtimes :P

Yesterday, I didn't have the TV on at all except one cartoon after breakfast. He did well for all the meals. Normally I prefer music, because when TV is on, I don't pay as much attention to him either, which is no good & I feel guilty afterwards. But when there are days we are trapped inside the house, without TV on at all, felt like I'm totally away from outside world. hm...wait till winter time, I will need to be more creative by then.^_^

Charlene loves to watch the baby songs on DVD when she is eating, or else she has no patience to sit and eat. Headache......
Also, she is eating so slow, 1 hour each meal. How about Yoshi?

1 hr each meal? wow..that sounds like what grandma used to complaint about ME. Yoshi is really good most of the time. When it comes to sitting down in highchair to eat, the rules are NO toys, NO TV (now I learned) & NO feet on table. Then all he concentrate is his food only. So he will eat spoon by spoon. But who knows if this will change or not, he might act differently as he grows older. I do turn on the music only like Amy does, so at least some fun background sounds. Cecilia, maybe u can try that instead of TV? Good luck. I know it must be tough on u now that your mom has left. Is your husband still on maternity leave? That is a big help for sure. Hang in there. (Oh Amy & Cecilia, thanks for the menu suggestions earlier, good to share)

we do let rafael watch the news and weather report w/ us in the evening, for half an hour maybe. now he refers the weather report by "ah oh" (the weather man). :P

though we don't turn on the tv during mealtimes, it still takes 45 mins to 1 hr for rafael to finish (sometimes only most of) his food, as compared to 15 mins at school as the teachers say. rafael sits at the kids' table now. he might be able to concentrate for 15 mins, but then afterwards he starts wandering around in the house and touching this and that. i probably need to set an alarm clock for him soon!

I'm glad that Yoshi loves the Thomas so much. He talked so much in the video, very lovely... Ethan has the exact same Thomas, he still loves playing it (almost a year now).
